Is there a hot tub?
Hot tubs are not permitted under local covenants as Langdale Parish Council wish to preserve the tranquility of the woodland. There is a Jacuzzi in the shared pool hall.
Are the cabins open throughout the year?
Cabins are open from 1st March through to 4th January annually. Please note that communal facilities such as swimming pool, jacuzzi, ping-pong etc. are not available bwteen 15th November and 1st March each year.
At what times do we have to arrive and depart?
The cabin will be available to occupy at 3pm on the first day of your holiday. When leaving you should be packed and departed before 11am.
Can we hire linens / towels and what's included?
If you do not take up the linens option then you can expect the beds to have mattress protectors, pillows and TOG 13.5 duvets. For an additional charge we can supply each guest with a pack of linens and towels comprising: White cotton sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, a selection of fluffy Egyptian 600gm cotton towels, face-cloths, tea-towels and dish cloth (in addition to J-cloth). If you purchase the linens option then beds will be made up ready for your arrival. Sleeping arrangements: All cabins have 4' 6" double bed in the main bedroom and twin 3' single beds in the second bedroom and so can each accommodate 4 persons. Order bed-linens accordingly when completing the booking form, or else bring your own to suit the arrangement in your chosen cabin.
Is smoking permitted?
No. Our lodges are designated a complete no-smoking zones. It not only smells and so is annoying to us and other guests who may follow you, but it is against the law (you are in a public place). It also invalidates the owners fire insurance.
Can we bring an extra person?
Each cabin sleeps up to 4 people in a double and twin arrangement. Some families often find room for another child and while we are happy to agree to this we have to point out that we do only advertise 4 bedspaces.
Can we bring our family dog?
Oh Yes!. We welcome up to two well behaved family dogs, (at additional cost) but unfortunately we can't accommodate other types of pet. When filling out the booking form please be sure to advise us that you will be bring a pet to avoid any retrospective charges which will be levied after your stay.
Is there a bar or restaurant nearby?
Unlike commercial sites Neaum Crag has no central clubhouse, bar or restaurant. The emphasis is on peace and tranquillity rather than organized activity. There are a number of good value pubs and high quality restaurants within a short distance of the lodge. More detailed information is available in the Guests Welcome Folder when you arrive.
What does the price include?
Just about everything... The prices shown on the dates and prices page covers the complete rental charge regardless of number of occupants and so the only additional charges are £1 coin-meters which control supply of electricity for the lodge and the sauna. Use of all additional facilities: pool, Jacuzzi and Sauna are free-of-charge. (Note these facilities are closed between November 15th and March 1st).
How much do we have to pay for utilities?
Power and water are costs are covered by pre-payment of electricity which is supplied through a coin meter. Experience has shown that the typical cost for 2 guests in the summer will be approx £3 per day. Conversely, 4 Guests in winter can expect to pay around £6 per day. “Your mileage may vary.”
Where can I park my car. Will it be safe?
There are two private car parking spaces at each cabin. Car crime in the locality is exceptionally low, however, if you are concerned about leaving your car you should be aware that the vehicle will not be visible from the lodge unless you leave the building. We are not responsible for your car or its contents while parked at our lodge.
Bath or shower?
Both lodges have a walk-in shower - neither has a bathtub.
Can we book a stag or hen party?
Bookings are only accepted from family groups. We do generally not accept parties where there are more than three adults of the same gender, per party. If this is the case you should send an email to verify prior to booking.
Can we book last minute?
Our reputation for high quality often results in us being booked far in advance. We only have two cabins, not dozens like the commercial parks and so when they're booked that's it. We therefore suggest that when you see dates available which suit your diary that you make an online booking there and then. If you do see some late availability then yes you can book immediately.
Do we get a price reduction for less than 4 people staying?
You pay to rent the property irrespective of the number of occupants up to the agreed maximum.
What about wheelchair access. Is it on the level?
Remember you're going to be in a woodland park. The service roads are made-up but many of the pathways are gravel. The car parking area at Loughrigg Tarn is directly adjacent to the lodge and there is a wheelchair ramp up onto the deck. From the car parking area at Blelham Tarn there are 11 shallow steps with a hand rail going down towards the lodge and then a gravel path. You should therefore decide which cabin is best suited for someone in a wheelchair without assistance.
Where can I get the bus?
Our advice is not to rely upon a bus if you are visiting us unless it is to take a ride on some of the UK's most scenic bus journeys. Stagecoach run a frequent'ish circular service (The Coniston Rambler) during the tourist season which starts at Windermere and runs through Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Coniston and Hawkshead. (It calls at the car park of the Skelwith Bridge Hotel.) An additional service which runs from Ambleside along the Langdale Valley and back, twice a day, stops at the same place as The Rambler. An up to date timetable is often posted in the window of the office at the pool hall.
Will my mobile phone work when we arrive?
Coverage at the lodge is sporadic on all four primary networks, although O2 users report better success within the woodland than others. All networks are useable in Ambleside. One of our cabins has a payhone installed and there is a public payphone in the communal pool hall.
